The disease affects the non-feathered parts resulting in a scaly, crusty, or scabby appearance around the beak , cere(nasal area), eyelids, and legs. This condition causes extreme stress on the bird and can affect the birds ability to eat. In some cases, there may be abnormal beak growth resulting in severe beak deformities.
